iDock is the latest innovation from outboard engine builder Evinrude that makes docking a small boat easy and intuitive to operate.
Joystick piloting systems are here to stay in recreational boating, and these amazing systems are finally migrating down to smaller boats.
Evinrude's new iDock joystick piloting system is integrated with the existing internal hydraulic steering feature of select Evinrude E-TEC G2 engines. iDock is available on boats with twin Evinrude E-TEC G2 150- to 300-hp engines and is designed to make easy-to-use joystick technology available to boats less than 30 feet.
Similar twin outboard joystick docking systems cost more than $15,000, so Evinrude has a price-point advantage starting at about $6,000.
The new feature joins a roster of existing Evinrude features such as iSteer integrated dynamic power steering, iTrim automatic trim system, iControl digital shift and throttle, and iLink mobile display interface.
"Throughout the design process, our engineering team built our Evinrude E-TEC G2 engines to be expandable as new technology evolves," said Olivier Pierini, Evinrude director of global marketing and strategic planning. "This forward thinking has allowed us to introduce our iDock joystick piloting system at an incredible value to the consumer, all while giving our users the ultimate ease of use."
The Evinrude iDock joystick piloting system was awarded an Innovation Award in September at the 2017 International BoatBuilders' Exhibition & Conference (IBEX).
